Since i’m working so much at the pool, i started to read more. I just finished the complete short stories of ernest hemingway, which i started two terms ago for my literature class. He’s a great writer, but he often depresses me. Nothing like removing oneself from a book induced fog, to watch people swim laps.
his style is especially effective when he describes the spanish civil war. there is something creepy and appropriate about his simple sentences and omitted thoughts/words/phrases. I also often wonder if his character nick, is really him. or at least very similar to him.
i’m also, almost done brett’s the short stories book by kurt vonnegut. these are really excellent too. I really enjoy short stories.
i’ve had very little to say recently…
maybe later i’ll post unflattering picture of the crin brett diego italian market trip.
my boss recomended the vonnegut short stories to me. he says throw away characters from one story will be casually mentioned in other stories. i think that’s pretty neat.

it is. at least according to my fiction writing teacher. he made fun of Hemingway for only ever writing things he lived so that essentially all his stories are the same.
then nick must be him! or who he would like to be? or something like that.
